G-A roundup: Volleyball team wins 6th straight match

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Greencastle-Antrim 3, Boiling Springs 0: The Blue Devils made quick work of the Bubblers on Monday night in a Mid Penn Colonial match on the road.

Greencastle (7-1, 6-1 MPC) won games of 25-23, 25-9 and 25-20.

Abby Eagler was all over the stat sheet, producing 8 kills, 9 service points (with 4 aces), 2 blocks and 12 digs.

Lily Kauffman contributed 11 kills and 2 blocks, Brianna Woodring had 7 points and 13 digs, Kylie Kerns chipped in 15 assists and 2 blocks, Alaina Garling had 13 assists, Emma Pool made 2 blocks and Wren Roberts led with 13 points.

Mid Penn qualifier: The Mid Penn Conference held a qualifying tournament Monday afternoon at Manada G.C. to complete the roster of players for the league’s championship.

Seven players from the Colonial Division competed and none were able to advance to the championship.

The score needed to make the cut was 83. Greencastle-Antrim’s Camden Eby and Shippensburg’s Ben Horgos got oh so close, both shooting 84 to miss by a stroke.

Other Colonial players included Waynesboro’s Andrew Soffe (85), Kellan Smith (86) and Stone Taylor (87), and Ship’s Jack Johnson (90) and Wyatt Knepper (91).

The Mid Penn championship for boys and girls will be held Thursday at Dauphin Highlands G.C.

Forbes Road 1, Greencastle-Antrim 0: The Blue Devils fell by a goal in a non-league contest at Kaley Field against the Cardinals on Monday afternoon.

On Saturday, G-A competed in the Boiling Springs. In the first game, the defending state champion Bubblers defeated the Blue Devils, 8-0. In the consolation game, Greencastle was edged 2-1 by Carlisle.
