GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Chambersburg 3, Cedar Cliff 1: The Trojans got back to their winning ways by handing the Colts a Mid Penn Commonwealth defeat on Thursday evening at CASH Field House.
Chambersburg (3-6, 2-2 MPC) won game 25-16, but Cedar Cliff bounced back to win 25-14. The Trojans then closed it out 25-23 and 25-15.
“It was a really good team win tonight,” Chambersburg coach Ty Frelin said. “We played with energy and passion, and we bounced back when we needed to. Collectively, we did some really good things — now we have to keep it rolling.”
Marah Lehman put up 15 kills and Addi Kegerreis added 12. Kegerreis had 3 blocks, behind 6 from Nizaya Hawkins.
Service points leaders were Karley Skultety (14), Kegerreis (10) and Paige Davis (8). Davis had 34 assists, and the digs leaders were Skultety (20), Alayna Jones (17) and Kegerreis (16).
BOYS SOCCER
State College 3, Chambersburg 0: The Trojans out-shot the Little Lions 13-7, but State College put in 3 goals in the second half to hand Chambersburg a Mid Penn Commonwealth defeat at Trojan Stadium on Thursday night.
“I thought we executed our game plan very well in the first half, keeping it 0-0 while having some quality chances as well,” Chambersburg coach Corey Grove said. “But we lost our marks twice in the second half and they were able to capitalize.”
Trojan goalkeeper Drew Cover made 3 saves.
Grove said, “I thought Cristian Lopez and Izhais Jean were excellent tonight and gave everything they had. It doesn’t get any easier with how difficult our schedule is, but we have to learn from our mistakes and improve if we want to get results against the top teams.”
FIELD HOCKEY
Carlisle 4, Chambersburg 2: The Trojans were defeated by the Thundering Herd in a competitive Mid Penn Commonwealth game Thursday at Carlisle.
“It was an exciting game to watch,” Chambersburg coach Kelsey Baker said. “The girls played all 60 minutes with a lot of heart. “Our team is young and is showing a lot of growth. Now we have to learn how to capitalize on those scoring opportunities. I am excited to seethe girls continue to grow.”
Jaxin Frazer scored the first goal for the Trojans (0-9, 0-6 MPC) on a penalty stroke. In the fourth period, Frazer had the assist on a goal by Finley Vandevander.
