Greencastle-Antrim 4, Waynesboro 0: In a non-league clash between rivals on Saturday morning at Kaley Field, the Blue Devils earned a shutout win over the Indians.
Caleb Baine broke a scoreless tie late in the first half with a goal off a scramble in front of the Indians’ net. Early in the second half, ‘Boro failed to clear a ball and Ryan Farrow slotted home a shot for a 2-0 lead.
The Blue Devils (5-0-1) also got goals from Andrew Bowers and Garrett Decker. Goalkeeper Ethan Ford made 7 saves.
G-A coach Aric Bruner said, “It was a typical Saturday morning game coning off a big game Thursday. We were lackluster for the first 30 minutes and then the boys started to get into a rhythm.”
GIRLS SOCCER
Greencastle-Antrim 2, Waynesboro 0: The Blue Devils posted a non-league shutout win over the Maidens on the road Saturday morning.
G-A (4-2) got on the board first on a goal by Haley Noblit. The second goal came off another shot by Noblit, which deflected off a Waynesboro defender and rolled into the net. Noblit now has 12 goals for the season.
FIELD HOCKEY
Susquenita 8, Greencastle-Antrim 1: The Blue Devils played a non-league game against the Blackhawks on Saturday morning at Kaley Field and were handed a defeat.
Greencastle (1-5) scored its goal in the first period. Annika Gaus knocked in the shot after getting an assist from Jensen Keefer.
