CENTRAL DAUPHIN AT CHAMBERSBURG
Game data: Friday, 7 p.m. at Trojan Stadium … Mid Penn Commonwealth game and Homecoming for Chambersburg … Last year, CD rallied for a 42-35 win.
Last week: The Trojans (2-1) defeated Waynesboro, 40-20 … The Rams (2-1) handed Coatesville a 35-13 loss.
The opponent: Central Dauphin came through a rugged early season schedule with a 2-1 record, with wins over Wilson and Coatesville, and a loss to Central York … Key’Ron Plummer is the sparkplug at QB for the Rams … He has run for 162 yards on 32 carries and has completed 18 of 33 passes for 281 yards, 5 TDs and 4 interceptions … Mateo Crummel has 10 catches for 187 yards and a score, while Miles Copper (60-214, 7 TDs) and Kyle McCullough (35-167) are the top runners.
Coach’s view: Trojan coach Mark Luther said, “CD is just always big and strong. I mean, last year they had a bunch of seniors on defense and now this year, every kid except one on defense is a senior and they’re huge. Where do they get these guys, and why can’t we ever get them? They have two big kids inside and they like to attack off the edges. On offense, they have a huge line and they’ll pound the ball if they can. The quarterback is more of a scrambler than a drop back passer.”
Unsung: DE Kevin Demory, a 6-3, 210-pound junior … Luther said, “Demory showed great effort in chasing down runners from behind last week. He focused on defense and had an amazing effort.”
Stats: Trojan leaders: Passing — Riley Harmon 40-for-68 (59%), 638 yards, 6 TDs, 2 int. … Rushing — Antonio Harrison 28-110, 2 TDs … Receiving — Jermere Jones 9-162, 1 TD; Trever Luther 9-156; Jake Folmar 9-129, 2 TDs; Rhaigeon Parker 7-79, 1 TD.
GREENCASTLE-ANTRIM AT WAYNESBORO
Game data: Friday, 7 p.m. at Buchanan Auto Park Stadium … Mid Penn Colonial game … Last year, G-A rolled to a 35-21 victory.
Last week: The Blue Devils (3-0) hung a 35-21 defeat on Delone Catholic … ‘Boro (1-2) fell 40-20 to Chambersburg.
The opponent: The Indians hung with Chambersburg for three quarters last week, with a blocked field goal and return for a TD being the big play … The Trojans held Waynesboro’s running game in check, so QB Rashawn Hewitt was called upon to pass and he came through with good night — 15-for-22, 192 yards, 1 int., mostly on short passes … Bryan “Tank” Benedict had 2 catches for 61 yards and Gunnar Shifflett had 4 for 41 … The Indians allowed 469 yards, including 315 through the air.
Coach’s view: Greencastle coach Devin McCauley said, “It’s a rivalry game, so I’m expecting the best out of both teams, and we think Waynesboro will come in with some confidence after playing well against Chambersburg. We have a ton of respect for coach (Mark) Saunders — he calls the plays and does a great job of getting the most out of his kids. We need to play sound defense, not miss our keys and just keep doing our job.”
Unsung: C Tate Eberly, a 5-9, 228-pound senior … “He was our offensive lineman of the week and stuck out with his play,” McCauley said. “On a grass field in wet conditions, you worry about the snaps in a shotgun, but he did really well with them.”
Stats: Blue Devil leaders: Passing — Logan Alvey 28-42 (68%), 373 yards, 4 TDs, 1 int. … Rushing — Surzano Solomon 18-211, 3 TDs; Carter Coons 16-187, 2 TDs … Receiving — Carter McCauley 8-99, 1 TD; Garrett Blubaugh 6-87, 1 TD; Coons 6-48, 1 … Tackles — Parker Funk 24; JD Flynn, Sal Bangura and Trent Merrillat 18 each.
