Chambersburg 5, Carlisle 2: The Trojans put 4 runs on the board in the fifth inning to break up a 1-1 game and captured a non-league victory on the road Tuesday afternoon over the Thundering Herd.
Bryce Folmar pitched 6 innings for Chambersburg (6-12). He scattered 6 hits and 2 walks and struck out 3 batters. Ryan Schellhase handled the last inning for a save, striking out 2.
“Bryce was very efficient on the mound today,” Trojan coach Scott Folmar said. “He kept their hitters off-balance with his offspeed stuff and used his fast fastball effectively. Schellhase did a really nice job closing it out in the seventh, facing just three batters.”
The Trojans got an unearned run in the second when Treyton Sarvis reached on an error, Logan Draper bunted him to second and Brady Deneen scored him with a double to left field.
In the fifth, with one out, Brandon Pattillo singled and moved to third on a double by Wyatt Kissel. Jake Folmar then delivered a base hit that brought in both runners. Carter Fogal walked and Jake Folmar scored on a single by Joey Diaz. Tyler Brechbiel hit a grounder that was misplayed and the final run scored.
Coach Folmar said, “Offensively, we got a couple of timely hits that made the difference today, and we also took advantage of their miscues.”
