Late Rally Leads Tussey Mountain to Victory Over Fannett-Metal

Fannett-Metal(7-7) hosted Tussey Mountain on Wednesday evening in an ICC league contest and fell to the Titans by a score of 3-1.

The Tigers held a 1-0 lead through five innings of play before the Titans strung together four straight two out hits to go ahead 3-1 in the top of the 6th.  The Tigers couldn’t get anything going as they went down in order in the 6th and 7th.

”This was a very good high school baseball game.  Both teams pitched well and made some nice defensive plays.  But you gotta give them credit as they were able to string together some solid hits in that 6th inning to take the lead, and we just couldn’t get the clutch hits we needed throughout the game to increase our lead.” Coffman said.

Connor Jones pitched five innings for the Titans and Santamaria pitched the final two innings of the game.   Fannett-Metal pitcher Landon Arnold turned in a solid performance as well.  He gave up 3 runs on five hits.  He walked two and ended with 11 strikeouts.

Offensively, Jones had a pair of hits for the  Titans while  Kormanski and Lucko had RBI doubles.  The Tigers could only muster three hits on the day.  Arnold, Goshorn and Naugle had the Tigers hits.

The Tigers return to action on Tuesday when they host Northern Bedford in a 4:30 start.
