Central Dauphin 9, Chambersburg 0: Three Rams pitchers held the Trojans to just four hits in a Mid Penn Commonwealth victory on Monday afternoon at Greene Township Park.
Trevor Holden went 2-for-3 for Chambersburg (2-10, 1-7 MPC), and Tyler Brechbiel and Eli Metzger picked up the other singles.
Trojan starting pitcher Wyatt Kissel held the undefeated Rams (12-0, 9-0 MPC, ranked No. 1 in District 3) to just two runs before allowing two more in the fifth. CD then tacked on three in the sixth and two more in the seventh.
Kissel gave up 8 hits and 2 earned runs while walking one and striking out 3.
For Central Dauphin, Nate Payne was 3-for-5 and knocked in 3 runs, and starter Cade Mustard gave up 3 hits and 5 walks while striking out 3 in 5.1 innings.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Carlisle 3, Chambersburg 0: The Trojans couldn’t get it going on offense Monday night and were blanked in a Mid Penn Commonwealth match at CASHS Field House by the Thundering Herd.
Carlisle won games of 25-15, 25-18 and 25-23.
Trojan coach Ray Frazer said, “We struggled on the offensive side of the ball tonight. We played really good defense and passed the ball well, but we just couldn’t figure out how to put the ball away. This led to long rallies, with Carlisle usually coming out on top in the end.”
Reid Leidig played well for Chambersburg (2-7, 1-7 MPC), totaling 8 kills, 2 aces and 11 digs.
Andrew Holtry produced 10 kills, a block kill, 5 digs and 2 aces. Cole Leidig had4 kills and 6 digs, while Reed Myers chipped in 25 assists.
