Fannett-Metal(6-4) hosted James Buchanan on Friday evening in a non league contest and dropped an 11-3 decision to the Rockets.
The Rockets scored four unearned runs in the first inning off Tiger starter Logan Hall. Hayden Sanchez doubled with one out to get things started. After back to back errors the Rockets scored on a sac fly by Drew Crouse and a two run double by Preston Fox to make it 4-0.
The Tigers answered with two unearned runs in the bottom of the inning. Drew Goshorn led off with a single and Jake Coffman reached on an error. Landon Arnold’s ground ball was misplayed allowing Goshorn to score. Arnold got thrown out trying to reach second on the play but Coffman scored on the throw to second to make it 4-2.
The Rockets added two more runs in the second and third innings off reliever Noah Naugle to make it 8-2. The Tigers couldn’t get anything going in the second and third innings off Rocket left handed starter Trey Daugherty.
In the 4th, the Tigers loaded the bases on an error and two walks. Wade Appleby would score on Colton Myers fielders choice to make it 8-3. Daugherty got an infield fly out and a strikeout to end the threat.
Tiger reliever Tucker Seibert held the Rockets scoreless in the fourth and fifth innings before the Rockets scored a run in the sixth. The Rockets scored two more in the seventh off the Tigers 4th pitcher of the day Daxton Detweiler.
Rocket reliever Carter Hissong threw three scoreless innings in relief to close out the game.
The Rockets pounded Tiger pitching for 14 hits on the day including five doubles. Hayden Sanchez and Brandon Scofield led the offense with 3 hits each. Parker Summers and Hunter Blair also had multiple hit games for the Rockets.
The Tigers could only manage four hits off Rocket pitching. Drew Goshorn, Jake Coffman, Landon Arnold and Daxten Detweiler each had one hit on the day.
The Tigers return to action on Tuesday with a 4:30 ICC game at Forbes Road.
