Greencastle-Antrim 110, James Buchanan 40: Hayden Parks won two events and set a stadium record in the process as the Blue Devils defeated the Rockets in a Mid Penn Colonial meet at Kaley Field on Tuesday afternoon.
Parks’ winning time in the 1600 was 4:22.2, which is the new stadium standard, breaking the old mark from 2011 by James Buchanan’s Liam Corcoran. Parks also took the 3200 in 10:41.3.
The other double winners for the Blue Devils (1-0, 2-0 MPC) were Seth Stouffer (100 and 200) and Aiden Horan (shot put and discus).
Other G-A first-place performances came from Bill Harper (110 hurdles), Kyle Baker (800), Tavon Cooper (long jump), Will Schaeffer (high jump) and Sawyer Brookens (javelin).
For JB, Austin McCoy took first place in the 400 and triple jump, Brennan Gogan took the pole vault and Alex Gasior won the 300 hurdles.
GIRLS TRACK & FIELD
Greencastle-Antrim 99, James Buchanan 51: The Blue Devils held a 68-19 advantage on the track to account for the majority of their points in a Mid Penn Colonial victory over the Rockets on Tuesday afternoon at Kaley Field.
Greencastle (1-1, 1-1 MPC) had a trio of two-time winners on the track — Mary Murray (100 and 200), Claire Paci (800 and 1600) and Kadence Abbott (100 and 300 hurdles).
The other first-place finishers for G-A were Haley Baker (400), Shavari Maharaj (3200), Jaelyn Schmuck (long jump) and Abby Eagler (triple jump).
James Buchanan had five wins in the field, including Campbelle Dayley in the javelin and shot put, Chelsey Bigham in the discus, Morgan Iverson in the pole vault and Kaitlyn Yeager in the high jump.
