DAY 1:Dane Harvey collected five hits in five at bats, as Southern Fulton Indians (2-0, 1-0) defeated Rappahannock, Virginia 13-2 on Friday night. Senior, Dane Harvey, had quite the day at the plate, going 5-5 with a single in the first, singled in the third, double in the fourth, singled in the sixth, and a homer in the seventh.
Southern Fulton fired up the offense in the first inning, when Harvey singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
In the bottom of the first inning, Rappahannock tied things up at one. Carter Sullivan hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring one run.
Southern Fulton pulled away for good with five runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Josh Morgan singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs, Ethan Powell singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run, Harvey doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, and Trayton Younker drew a walk, scoring one run.
SoFo tallied five runs in the sixth inning. Mark Fitz, Austin Mann, and Kasey Fitz each drove in runs during the inning.
Freshman, Paul Hendershot was on the hill for Southern Fulton Varsity Indians. The hurler went four innings, allowing 1 earned run on four hits while striking out two.
Slade Keyser was on the mound for Rappahannock. Keyser lasted four innings, allowing six hits and six runs while striking out six. Cain Edwards and Macon Pierson entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one and two-thirds innings and one and one-third innings respectively.
Southern Fulton totaled 12 hits. Harvey and Morgan all had multiple hits for Southern Fulton.
Southern Fulton improved to 3-0, 1-0 on Saturday and completed a very successful trip to Rappahannock Virginia by defeating Northumberland Virginia 10-3 thanks to a strong start.
DAY 2: The Indians scored on a single by Mark Fitz, a groundout by Austin Mann, a single by Kasey Fitz, and a single by Ethan Powell in the second inning.
SoFo pulled away for good with a five run second inning. In the second Mark Fitz singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run, Mann grounded out, scoring two runs, Kasey Fitz singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run, and Ethan Powell singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
Jett Burger was on the mound for the Indians. The pitcher surrendered 2 earned runs on three hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out five. Ethan Mellott completed the final 3.1 innings surrendering only 2 hits and 2 walks.
KJ Ball led things off on the mound for Northumberland. The bulldog surrendered five runs on three hits over two innings, striking out one. JP Withers and Taylor Reeves entered the game as relief, throwing three innings and one inning respectively.
Mark Fitz went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead SoFo in hits. The Indians get back to league action on Thursday as they host Fannett-Metal at 4:30pm.
