Northgate eliminates McConnellsburg from state tournament

McConnellsburg traveled to Pittsburgh Saturday to compete with the Northgate Flames in the first round of PIAA Basketball Championship and fell to the Flames 67-42.  Coach Joshua Lowery said “We played the Flames tough for the first quarter, but there second quarter surge was just too much for us to come back from they outscored us 27-7 giving them enough gap to stay ahead comfortably.”

Lowery also commented “I give credit to the Flames there a tough team that will make a strong run in PIAA tournament. We simply have not seen a team like them all year. I’m very proud of my guys especially my seniors they played their hearts out for our community today.”

Leading scorers for McConnellsburg where Kyle Romig 13 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal, Kole Truax 11 points, 9 rebounds, 3 steals, Landon Ramsey 7 points, 5 rebounds, 5 steals, 3 assist, Wyatt Hershey 5 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, Braydon Ramsey 4 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal, Dominic Jefferson 2 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists.
