The Shalom Lady Flames defeated St. Maria Goretti 38-36 in a non-league matchup.
The Gaels came out strong going up quickly 12-6 on the Flames in the first quarter, but the Flames fought back to tie the game at the half.
The Flames went up by 10 in the third, but the Gaels came back to go ahead by 4.
Shalom was led by Amiyah Adams who had a game-high 24 pints scoring 13 of them in the fourth quarter. The Flames tied the game on a 3-pointer by Emily Rebok and a foul shot by Addison Adams.
Adams rebounded a Gael’s miss with 10 seconds left and made a pass to Maya Lehman who laid it in for the win as time expired.
Different players had to step up for the Flames due to injuries. The freshman trio of Adams, Lehman and Rebok combined for 28 rebounds stepping up for an injured Jaicee Keller. Joanna Rheam led the Flames on defense.
Lehman was the leasing scorer for the Flames with 18 points – Chloe Martin had 9 points, Adams had 6 and Rebok added 5.
