GIRLS SWIMMING
Chambersburg 128, Red Land 34: The Trojans picked up a first-place effort in every event and swamped the Patriots in a non-league meet at the Chambersburg YMCA on Thursday afternoon.
Maddie Shifler won the 100 and 200 freestyle races in 1:05.01 and 2:21.42, respectively, and was on the winning 200 medley and 400 free relays. Layne Rydbom won the 200 IM (2:30.39) and 100 butterfly (1:15.86), and was on the medley and 400 free relays. Abby Caltrider captured first in the 50 free (29.60) and 100 backstroke (1:16.17), and anchored the winning 200 free relay.
“Today was a good win and a morale booster,” Chambersburg coach Hali Cormany said. “I was proud of the girls for staying focused, especially during the tough part of the season. A few of the girls swam events for the first time today and many girls scored points.”
Also capturing individual wins were Lily Evans in the 400 free (5:06.87) and Margot Ritchie in the 100 breaststroke (1:24.82)
Kayle Wolfe, Lauren Markle and Evans were on the medley team with Rydbom (2:21.10) for the Trojans (2-1); McKenzie Wicks and Sarah Vessah teamed with Shifler and Caltrider for the 200 free win (2:05.30), and Wolfe and Evans joined Rydbom and Shifler for the 400 relay win (4:34.37).
BOYS SWIMMING
Chambersburg 105, Red Land 62: The Trojans ran their record to 3-0 by taking care of business in a non-league dual meet vs. the Patriots on Thursday afternoon at the Chambersburg YMCA.
Colby Evans and Alex Kaczmark were double winners for Chambersburg. Evans won the 400 freestyle in 4:56.0 and the backstroke in 1:10.21, while Kaczmark won the 200 free in 2:03.51 and the 100 free in 56.49.
Also producing wins for the Trojans were Derek Estep (200 IM, 2:22.43) and Jed Ritchie (butterfly, 1:03.0).
Chambersburg also had the first-place team in all three relays.
The team of Derek Estep, Joseph Decker, Brandon Estep and Keagan Myers won the 200 medley in 2:01.28; the Esteps, Decker and Kaczmark took the 200 free in 1:45.10; and the same quartet swam a 3:48.67 to win the 400 free.
