William Penn 43, Chambersburg 30: A disastrous third quarter was the biggest factor that led to the Trojans’ defeat at the hands of the Bearcats in a first-round game of the Donegal Holiday Tournament on Wednesday night.
Chambersburg (1-6) trailed only 15-13 at halftime. But William Penn’s Ciarra Gibbs connected for four baskets in the third period and the Bearcats (4-3) outscored the Trojans 15-3.
The Trojans managed only a basketball by TiTi Kelly and a foul shots by Hailey Frankhouser in the third period.
Chambersburg was led by Lily Cornwell, who scored 10 points, while Kelly was next highest with 5 points.
The Trojans will take on the loser of Wednesday’s game between Donegal and Red Land on Thursday at 6 p.m.
