GIRLS BASKETBALL
Greencastle-Antrim 47, Mifflin County 43: The Blue Devils put some distance between themselves and the Huskies in the third quarter and maintained that lead to pick up a first-round win in the Greencastle-Antrim Tip-Off Tournament on Friday night.

Rylee Henson

G-A will take on rival James Buchanan in Saturday’s championship game at 7 p.m. Saturday. The Rockets defeated Southern Huntingdon 53-32 on Friday night.

“We got it done, and we beat a good team that was really physical,” Greencastle coach Mike Rhine said.

A 3-pointer by Meadow Gambacurta broke a 28-28 tie in the third period and the Blue Devils never trailed again. Ainsley Swindell scored a rebound bucket just before the buzzer to make it 37-31 in Greencastle’s favor.

In the final 40 seconds of the game, the Blue Devils made five of six free throws to seal the win and were 7-for-9 in the fourth period.

Rylee Henson led G-A in scoring with 18 points, which included a 4-point play in the first half. Mia Libby added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists, Swindell had 8 points and 6 boards and Gambacurta had 6 points.

Mifflin County’s Marissa Gingrich, an All-State player who averaged over 20 points last year, was defended by Henson and scored 17, but 6 of those came on very late 3-pointers.

Rhine said, “That was probably Rylee’s best game of her career. It was a real challenge to guard Gingrich, but we tried to get her a little more help in the second half. And Mia hit some big free throws at the end.”
