The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers advanced to the semifinals of the Mason Dixon Christian Conference boys soccer tournament by defeating Heritage Academy 3-1 Tuesday in the MDCC quarterfinals.
The Blazers (12-5-2) play at Calvary Christian Thursday in the semifinals. The winner advances to the championship game Saturday at Grace Academy.
The Blazers broke on top a little past midway into the first half when Aaron Minnier delivered a free kick from near midfield toward the right post, where Sam Hepler collected it and sent it into the net.
They went ahead 2-0 in the second half when Gage Brookens kicked in a goal on an assist from Finlay Smith. The score went to 3-0 when Smith connected on a penalty kick after Hepler was taken down in the box.
