Chambersburg roundup: Field hockey goes 1-1 in tourney

FIELD HOCKEY
Mifflin County 3, Chambersburg 0: The Trojans were defeated in a Mid Penn Commonwealth game Monday night at Trojan Stadium.

Chambersburg is 2-7 (0-5 MPC).

On Saturday at the McCaskey Tournament, Chambersburg went 1-1. The Trojans lost 1-0 to the host Red Tornados, but came back and laid a 12-0 defeat on York Tech.

Jaxin Frazier and Gracie Mellott each tallied 3 goals for the Trojans, while Ella Fatyol, Bella Leeking, Morgan Smith, Calissa Salmon and Carly Benedict had one goal each.

Trojans’ Otto shoots 77: Chambersburg’s Jeremy Otto fired a 5-over par 77 on Monday at Manada G.C. but his team finished in last place again in a Mid Penn Commonwealth match.

The Trojans (3-27) finished two strokes back of the host school, Lower Dauphin, in a battle for fifth place.

Otto shot a 37 on his front nine, which included a birdie on No. 8, and a 37 on the back side.

Jacob Bassham had a wild round, ending up with an 80 to tie for 14th. On his front nine (42), he eagled No. 5, but then suffered an 8 on the par 4 No. 8. On the back nine (38), he scored birdies on Nos. 15 and 18.

Brady Fretz shot an 86 to place 29th for Chambersburg.
