HAGERSTOWN, Md. – The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers broke open a tight game with three second-half goals and defeated Heritage Academy 5-1 Monday in a Mason Dixon Christian Conference boys soccer game.
The Blazers (4-1-1, 4-1 MDCC) led 2-1 at halftime.
“We are starting to put it together,” Blazers coach Stan Hott said. “We connected on several key passes and played very solid in the mid. Aaron Minnier, Preston Hammond, and Finlay Smith held our team together in the center. Peddy is starting to understand the flow of our formation and is learning on the job from Aaron. Those two may be the best two center backs we have had in a while.”
Gage Brookens and Cort Stouffer each scored a pair of goals for the Blazers. Sam Hepler also added a goal. Picking up assists were Finlay Smith with two, and Hepler, Bradley Stayman and Nollin Egolf with one apiece.
Goalkeeper Gabe Beckering made 12 stops.
