Southern Fulton defeats Williamsburg 12-4 to advance to state quarterfinals

The SoFo Indians handled the Williamsburg Blue Pirates tonight in the opening round of the PIAA “A” baseball playoffs.

Konner Pittman didn’t feel much like getting out on Monday, tallying four hits and leading the Indians to a 12-4 win over Williamsburg. Pittman doubled in the first, singled in the third, doubled in the fourth, and doubled off the wall in the sixth.

The Indians got their offense started in the bottom of the first when lead off hitter Kasey Fitz doubled. Ethan Powell then singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run. Pittman followed him with gap piece to score Powell.

SoFo continued hitting balls hard and put up five runs in the third inning. Pittman, Dane Harvey, and Hunter Ward all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Sophomore, Ethan Mellott was credited with the victory for SoFo Indians. The righthander surrendered three runs (1 earned) on three hits over four innings, striking out three.  Harvey threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Lambert Palmer took the loss for Williamsburg Pirates. The righthander allowed eight hits and nine runs over three innings, striking out three and walking one.

SoFo Indians had 13 hits in the game.  Pittman(4 hits/2RBIs), Trayton Younker (2 hits), and Kasey Fitz (2 hits) all managed multiple hits for SoFo Indians. Pittman led SoFo Indians with four hits in four at bats.

The Indians 19-5 advance to the “Elite 8” round and will now take on Clarion-Limestone on Thursday at a site and time TBA.
