Greencastle-Antrim 6, Hershey 1: A big blast in the first inning by Aidan Grudzinski and a fine pitching performance by Adam Horst powered the Blue Devils over Hershey in a non-league game Saturday morning in Greencastle.

Greencastle (13-5) opened the bottom of the first with a double by Briggs Remenick, a one-out walk by Darren Kline, and a two-out, three-home home run to leftfield by Grudzinski.

That was more than enough support for Horst (3-0), who handcuffed the Trojans on six hits. He did not walk a batter and struck out five, and 58 of his 77 pitches were thrown for strikes.

Greencastle pushed the lead to 4-0 in the third when Ethan Ford singled, and Hershey’s pitcher walked Connor Rohm, Nick Johnston and Mason Wolff, who got an RBI.

After the Trojans scored their only run in the top of the fourth, the Blue Devils retaliated with two more in the bottom of the inning. Austin Wyand led off with a base hit and Kline walked. A wild pitch got Wyand to third and he scored on a grounder by Ford. Grudzinski also hit a grounder and it scored Kline with the final run.

Greencastle, which finishes the regular season with a game at Gettysburg (12-6, No. 9 in the District 3 rankings) have moved up to No. 10 in the power rankings.
