GIRLS BASKETBALL
Harrisburg 47, Chambersburg 46, OT: The Trojans came excruciatingly close to picking up their second win of the season Tuesday night at CASHS Field House, but fell in overtime to the Cougars in a Mid Penn Commonwealth contest.
Chambersburg (1-10, 1-6 MPC) trailed 25-14 at halftime, but rallied and outscored Harrisburg (4-6, 3-2 MPC) 17-8 in the third period and 12-10 in the fourth to force overtime.
In OT, Lily Cornwell hit a basket and Ella Parker made 1 of 2 free throws, and the Cougars got a bucket from Shawneeta Simmons. Trailing by a point, Harrisburg’s Ahnae Robinson was fouled and sank both free throws with just 1.6 seconds left to win the game. Robinson scored 10 of her 24 points in the fourth period.
Allie List led the Trojans with a career-high 15 points, including 9 in the fourth quarter. It was her elbow jumper with 8 seconds left in regulation that tied the game and sent it to overtime. Cornwell and Parker each had 7 points and Kylie Miller added 6.
Chambersburg coach Blake Schildtbauer said, “I want to say how hard these girls work. They are growing and learning every day, every minute and every play. I cannot be more proud of the progress we’ve made. This is a group of girls that has developed into a family and they are getting so much better at working together and are learning the basketball situational handbook. We are looking forward to another competitive game at CD East on Friday.”

GIRLS SWIMMING
State College 114, Chambersburg 60: The Trojans collared a first place finish in the opening event, but the powerful Little Lions won the rest to capture a Mid Penn Commonwealth victory Tuesday afternoon.
The 200 medley relay team of Abby Caltrider, Emma Grove, Layne Rydbom and Hailey Fegan swam a time of 1:59.91 to place first.
“The effort was there from the girls against a tough State College team,” Chambersburg coach Hali Cormany said. “Our medley relay had their best time, which helps set us up for Mid Penns. Abby Caltrider and Layne Rydbom were great in 100 fly and Kayla Wolfe dropped time in the 100 back. Lilly Evans’ 200 and 500 were also impressive.”
The Trojans (4-4-1, 3-4 MPC) picked up five individual runner-up finishes: Evans (200, 500 free), Rydbom (200 IM), Fegan (50 free) and Maddie Shifler (100 free), plus the 200 free relay team of Rydbom, Shifler, Fegan and Evans.
