The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers earned first place in the Mason Dixon Christian Conference regular season by thrashing Grace Academy 8-0 Friday in boys soccer.
The Blazers (16-1, 10-1 MDCC) captured the top seed in the MDCC tournament, which begins next week. They have a first-round bye and will face the winner of the Grace-Faith quarterfinal game in the semifinals.
The Blazers scored only 40 seconds into the game when Jadon Jetnarayan headed in a shot off a corner kick. They stretched the advantage to 5-0 by halftime.
“Our defense led by Jadon J. has really stepped up,” Blazers coach Stan Hott said. “We had three shutouts in one week. All of our players are really jelling and communicating well.”
Wyatt Pine scored three goals to lead the Blazers, and Landon Crawford, Preston Conner, Mario Wiesman and Max Crawford also netted goals. Wiesman had two assists, and Kellogg, Pine, Jetnarayan, Josh Rowe, Finlay Smith and Felix Kauffeldt added an assist each.
