Blazers charge back to beat Faith

The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers lost the first set but rallied to defeat Faith Christian 3-1 Thursday in a Mason Dixon Christian Conference girls volleyball match.

Faith (5-3 MDCC) took the first game 25-14 and appeared headed to a second victory over the Blazers this season, having won 3-1 in August. But the Blazers (5-3, 3-3 MDCC) persevered through a tough second set to win 25-22. They then won the last two games 25-18 and 25-15.

“We served and passed well and that made all the difference,” Blazers coach Carole Rosenberry said. “As a team, we amassed 28 kills and 50 digs to battle back after a slow start from losing the first set.”

For the Blazers, Regan Bard had 26 assists and five digs, Julia Waltz four kills and four aces, Morgan Householder 18 kills and 12 digs, Kendra Bard 11 digs and four kills, Peyton Timmons six digs, and Landrie Miller 13 digs.

The Blazers won the JV match, 2-0.
