
Anthony Smith scores on a 63 yard TD pass from Tucker Chamberlin to give Shippensburg a 6-0 lead.
The Shippensburg Greyhounds improved to 4-0 (1-0 MPC) with a 37-7 victory over Susquehanna Township Saturday in their Colonial Division opener. The Greyhounds struck first with a 63 yard touchdown pass from Tucker Chamberlin to Anthony Smith and extra point to give Shippensburg a 7-0 lead with 4:45 left in the first quarter. Shippensburg struck again with 1:33 remaining on Chamberlin’s two yard run and the PAT to lead 14-0.
Amari Kerr’s seven yard touchdown run and two point conversion on a Carter Foust run gave Shippensburg a 22-0 lead with 8:30 left in the half.
The Indians got their only score of the game when Javon White hit Lebron Mallerd for a 13 yard pass in the back of the end zone with 3:50 too go in the half, and the extra point made it 22-7.
Blake Orndorff hit a 30 yard field goal in the closing seconds of the half to take a 25-7 lead to the locker room.
The Greyhounds added twelve points in the second half on Kerr’s two yard run with 5:38 to go in the third quarter, and Chamberlin’s two yard pass to Keegan Kissinger with 2:23 to go in the game.
Shippensburg was lead by Traevon Cater who had nine carries and rushed for 102 yards. Anthony Smith had two catches for 70 yards and Erby Weller three catches for 56 yards. Tucker Chamberlin was 7 for 9 for 139 yards. Shippensburg had 394 yards total offense The Greyhounds held Susquehanna Township to 117 total yards for the game.
Shippensburg improves to 4-0 and will host Waynesboro Friday night in a key Colonial Division game. Susquehanna Township falls to 0-4 and travels to Greencastle Friday night.
