G-A roundup: Field hockey team edges Ship on Narducci goal

Greencastle-Antrim 1, Shippensburg 0: The Blue Devils ran their record to 4-1 (3-1 MPC) by nipping Shippensburg in a Mid Penn Colonial game Thursday afternoon on the road.

Louise Narducci tallied an unassisted goal in the third period to put the only point on the scoreboard. It was her second game-winning goal in the last two games.

“As a team we played the whole 60 minutes and never gave up,” G-A coach Emiley Filepas said. “We are starting to work as a whole team and not as individuals.”

Courtney Andruczk

Greencastle-Antrim 7, James Buchanan 0: Courtney Andruczk put on a show offensively for the Blue Devils in a Mid Penn Colonial shutout win over the Rockets at home Thursday afternoon.

Andruczk hit the back of the net three times on her shots, and also assisted on a pair of goals.

Mia Libby had two goals for the second consecutive game. Haley Noblit and Avery Parks each scored a goal and added an assist, and Olivia Russell helped out on one goal for Greencastle (4-1, 3-0 MPC).

Madeline Eagler

James Buchanan 3, Greencastle-Antrim 0: The Blue Devils hung tough with the Rockets for the first two games, both 25-23 defeats, but JB prevailed big in the third, 25-14, to claim a Mid Penn Colonial match Thursday on the road.

For Greencastle (2-3, 2-2 MPC), it was an 0-3 week going against three of the best teams on its schedule.

Kiley Burkholder put down 7 kills to lead the Blue Devils in that stat. Alayna Welsh came up with 13 digs, three aces and 16 service points, while Madeline Eagler compiled 21 assists.

Eagler also had 9 digs, while Lauren Pool, Hannah Russell, Lily Kauffman and Olalla Sanchez each had four kills.

Garrett Decker

Greencastle-Antrim 7, James Buchanan 1: Garrett Decker scored three of the Blue Devils’ first four goals to carry them to a victory over James Buchanan in a Mid Penn Colonial game Thursday evening at JB.

“I was very pleased with the way the boys started out the game – we were finally playing a team-oriented game and had excellent spacing,” G-A coach Aric Bruner said. “We got a few quick goals and seemed to shut it down toward the end of the half and got a PK call against us. We responded in the second half and played a tremendous team game. It felt good to see a bunch of balls hit the back of the net.”

Theo Gerald-Oreste scored a goal and assisted on two goals for Greencastle (1-2, 1-2 MPC). Erick Cruz, Kyle Baker and Isaac Lutz each put one in the goal, while Mitchell Lagoe assisted on two goals and Caleb Baine on one.

Trevor Seville scored on the penalty kick for the Rockets. JB goalkeeper Alex Gasior made eight saves, and G-A keeper Gavin Davidson made four.
