HAGERSTOWN, Md. – The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers scored four first-half goals en route to a 5-1 victory over St. James Academy Thursday in a non-league boys soccer game.
Senior Wyatt Pine and sophomore Mario Wiesman each scored a pair of goals to lead the Blazers (3-0). Senior Josh Rowe added the other goal.
Sophomore Finlay Smith contributed two assists, while Pine, Bradley Stayman and Felix Kauffeldt each added an assist.
Junior goaltender Aaron Minnier made 18 saves in his first varsity start in goal.
“The boys played well,” Blazers coach Stan Hott said. “We passed the ball well and were making good decisions on and off the ball. Aaron played great in goal. He made several big saves. Finlay Smith was player of the game. He came off the bench and created an assist within a few minutes of entering play. He added a boost that we had not had in the previous games.”
