Chambersburg roundup: Trojan basketball teams come up short

GIRLS BASKETBALL
State College 38, Chambersburg 34: The Trojans tried to rally from a 28-21 deficit after three quarters, but the Little Lions held on for a four-point Mid Penn Commonwealth win Friday night in State College.

“We had shooting woes and an inability to score in teh first half and that got us behind the eight ball,” Chambersburg coach Justin English said. “We did a good job of battling back in the second half but couldn’t close it out.”

The Trojans 4-10 (3-8 MPC) got 13 points from Robin Stepler, who hit a pair of 3-pointers, and equaled her season high point total. Erin Pattillo added 8 points and Kylee Miller scored 6.

For State College, Diana Tsarnakova led with 12 points.

Carlisle 66, Chambersburg 44: The Trojan defense had no answer for the Thundering Herd’s Dylan Young, who scored 25 of his 28 points in the first three quarters, and Chambersburg was defeated in a Mid Penn Commonwealth game Friday night at CASHS Field House.

Chambersburg (0-11, 0-9 MPC) also shot 9-for-21 from the foul line. Jayden Jones and Carter Sollenberger each scored 10 points for the Trojans; it was a career high for Jones. Parker Knepper (5 points) scored his first varsity points.

Also for Carlisle (8-7), Ezeekai Thomas and Eric Ruiz each scored 9.
