G-A roundup: Blue Devils put together a pair of routs over Mustangs

BOYS BASKETBALL
Greencastle-Antrim 68, West Perry 22: The Blue Devils took care of business right from the start, blowing out to a 20-0 lead to begin their Mid Penn Colonial victory over the Mustangs on Friday night.

Greencastle (3-0, 2-0 MPC) outscored West Perry 24-6 in the first and 22-5 in the second for a 46-11 halftime bulge.

“I was very pleased with our focus and energy to start the game,” G-A coach Rick Lewis said. “It was  nice team victory and we got to get a lot of players playing time.”

Riley Gembe led the Blue Devils with 15 points, Adam Murr tossed in 10 and JT English, Conner Wright and Tim Ehko each put up 8 points.

Greencastle-Antrim 50, West Perry 19:
The Blue Devil defense held the Mustangs without a field goal until 2:08 remained in the third period and coasted to an easy Mid Penn Colonial win Friday night at home.

G-A’s active defense piled up 21 steals, which led to some quick transition opportunities.  On offense, Lauren Pool hit 6 of 8 shots from the field and totaled 13 points (plus 8 rebounds) and Haley Noblit also reached double figures with 11 points, along 6 assists and 6 steals.

“It was nice to get back on the court after had our game on Tuesday with Big Spring postponed,” Greencastle coach Mike Rhine said. “Our defensive effort and activity was aggressive and excellent. On offense, we missed some easy opportunities, but still had good overall ball movement and took quality shots.”

Also for the Blue Devils (2-0, 1-0 MPC), Sayge Wilhide had 9 points and 6 steals; Mia Libby added 8 points, 4 assists and 5 steals; Jenna Powell scored 5 points and had 7 rebounds; and Kiersten Britner had 4 points.

West Perry was led by Maggie Zeister with 9 points.
