Greencastle led 14-13 after one period, but dominated Camp Hill 26-6 in the second. Sayge Wilhide, who led G-A with 17 points, knocked down all five of her 3-pointers for 15 points in that quarter.

A pressure defense held the Lions to just 6 points and created numerous turnovers. G-A totaled 19 steals for the game.

“Overall we had a good start considering the unique circumstances surrounding the start of the season,” Blue Devil coach Mike Rhine said. “We had solid contributions from all seven of our players.  As a team we are thankful to be able to play and pleased to get the season off to a winning start.”

BOYS BASKETBALL
Greencastle-Antrim 61, Camp Hill 56: The Blue Devils fell behind 13-8 after one quarter, but a trio of 3-pointers by JT English in the second period helped G-A get started and it collected a season-opening non-league victory over the Lions on Friday night.

“Last year we’d have figured out a way to lose a game like this, but this year we figured out a way to win it,” Greencastle coach Rock Lewis said. “Hopefully, that is a good sign. It wasn’t pretty, but our maturity and experience showed and we were able to win a close one at the end.”

Freshman Conner Wright led the Blue Devils with 14 points, but got plenty of help from Adam Murr (12 points), Zach Cole (11), English (9) and Riley Gembe (8).

“Gembe played well off the bench,” Lewis said.

Greencastle’s 20-point second period produced a 28-26 lead.

Camp Hill, which made 13 of its 14 free throws, got 26 points from Cam Ochs.
