Chambersburg roundup: Trojan girls fall to Gettysburg in opener

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Gettysburg 60, Chambersburg 39: The Trojans couldn’t find an answer for all-state player Annie Bair, who poured in 27 points to lead the Warriors to a season-opening non-league win Friday night in Gettysburg.

“In the first quarter, you could tell both teams were rusty,” Chambersburg coach Justin English said. “Then we struggled against their press in the second quarter, which widened the gap (to 33-19). We brought it back to within 11 at the start of the fourth, but they pressed again and we struggled.”

For the Trojans, Erin Pattillo scored 8 points and played, according to English, “tremendous defense.” Allie List came off the bench and totaled a career high 8 points. Marlee Wrights and Ahsia Thomas each had 6 points.

English said, “Overall, we got the rust off. There were many positives to take away and we have a more focused view of what we need to work on.”

Also for Gettysburg, which reached the PIAA Class 5A quarterfinals last year, Camryn Felix scored 15 points. The Warriors hit nine 3-pointers. It was the 200th career victory for Gettysburg coach Jeff Bair.

Chambersburg got the foul line 22 times, but made only 9 of them.
