BOYS SOCCER
Northern York 4, Greencastle 1: The Blue Devils gave unbeaten Northern a scare Tuesday night before falling in a Mid Penn Colonial game at Kaley Field.

There was no score until the Polar Bears (13-0-1, 12-0 MPC) netted two goals early in the second half. Greencastle (6-5-1, 6-4-1 MPC), which has dropped four in a row, cut the lead in half when Adam Murr scored off a pass from Theo-Gerald Oreste.

“I thought that was one of our best efforts of the year,” G-A coach Aric Bruner said. “I’m not sure (outside of their tie with Hershey) that (Northern has) had as much pressure as what we put on them that late in the game. They are a very solid, senior laden team with state playoff experience.

“When it was 2-0 with 18 minutes left, we decided to go for it and push up another defender. It paid off with the combination play with Theo and Murr up the middle. Gavin Davidson was certainly tremendous tonight with 17 saves and he stopped one of two penalty kicks.”
