G-A roundup: Blue Devil girls soccer runs unbeaten streak to 9

GIRLS SOCCER
Greencastle 2, West Perry 0: The Mustangs held off the unbeaten Blue Devils as long as possible, but eventually Greencastle found the back of the net for a Mid Penn Colonial victory Thursday night.

The Blue Devils (9-0, 8-0 MPC) did not lead at halftime for the first time this season. But midway through the second half, Mia Libby headed in a pass from Avery Parks to break the ice. Parks also assisted on Courtney Andruczk’s goal with less than 5 minutes left.

“Give West Perry credit, because they played us as tough as anybody this season,” G-A coach Chris Noblit said. “They were ready.”

BOYS SOCCER
Greencastle 1, West Perry 0: A goal in the 22nd minute by Adam Murr stood up in a Mid Penn Colonial game the Blue Devils won over the Mustangs on Thursday night.

Theo-Gerald Oreste provided the assist. Goalkeeper Gavin Davidson made 5 saves to preserve the shutout.

G-A coach Aric Bruner said, “It was a total team effort tonight from the boys. We have had injury after injury and could make excuses for ourselves, but this team has a ‘next man up’ mentality — they really play for each other and have bought into the systems we are asking them to play. I thought our back line really stepped up tonight and shut down West Perry’s offensive threats. Shippensburg is going to be a tough challenge Saturday — we are looking forward to it.”
