G-A roundup: Girls volleyball suffers 1st defeat

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Waynesboro 3, Greencastle 1: Two unbeaten teams clashed Monday at Waynesboro and the Maidens came out ahead with a 3-1 Mid Penn Colonial decision.

Waynesboro went ahead with 25-22 and 25-15 wins, then the Blue Devils rallied with a 25-18 win. But ‘Boro closed it out, 25-19 in the fourth game.

For G-A (3-1), Madison Kirkwood piled up 11 kills and 28 digs, McKenzie Shatzer put up a big number of assists (43) to go along with 13 digs, and Audrey Garling had 8 kills and 3 aces. Also for the Devils, Gia Dasilva had 9 kills and Lauren Pool also had 9 kills.

FIELD HOCKEY
Shippensburg 2, Greencastle 1, OT: Mia Estep knocked in a shot in overtime to lift Shippensburg over the Blue Devils in a Mid Penn Colonial matchup Monday evening.

“When we play Shippensburg, it is always a tough and competitive game on both sides of the field,” Greencastle coach Emiley Maiorana said. “We fought hard on both offense and defense. As a team we are really starting to come into our own and play as one unit. I am proud of how the girls responded being down 1-0.”

Alexa Henry put the Lady Hounds on the board in the first quarter, but the Blue Devils tied it in the third quarter when Blaire Truax tipped in a pass from Sydney Orndorff.

GIRLS SOCCER: Greencastle 2, Camp Hill 0. The Blue Devils improved to 5-0.
