G-A roundup: Boys soccer blanks Boiling Springs

BOYS SOCCER
Greencastle 3, Boiling Springs 0: The defense and offense did their job Saturday morning and the Blue Devils were able to blank the Bubblers in a Mid Penn Colonial tussle.

Theo-Gerald Oreste knocked in a pair of goals in the first half for Greencastle (2-0-1), and Adam Murr hit the back of the net in the final minute of the game. Murr, Cale Stover and Viktor Heffner each came up with an assist. Gavin Davidson made 11 saves to preserve the shutout.

G-A coach Aric Bruner said, “The boys brought their ‘A’ game this morning. Coming off of a week in which we played two physical, double-overtime games, I was a little worried about them having heavy legs. But I was very pleased with how we possessed the ball, spread the field, and let the ball do the work. Defensively, I was really pleased with our ability to lock down in the second half.”

FIELD HOCKEY
Northern York 6, Greencastle 0: A strong Polar Bears team dominated the Mid Penn Colonial game on Saturday, limiting Greencastle to no shots and no penalty corners.

Emma Rosensteel scored three times for Northern.

Blue Devil coach Emiley Maiorana said, “We knew that Northern was going to be a tough opponent. My girls responded by playing a full 60 minutes of intense solid hockey. Taylor Mills did a phenomenal job of defending the goal today (17 saves).”
