Chambersburg roundup: Tennis team blanks Wildcats

Chambersburg 5, Mechanicsburg 0: The Trojans swept all five matches to down the Wildcats in a girls tennis match Friday afternoon at Norlo Park.

In singles, Sarah Vessah took a 6-4, 1-6, 10-3 victory at No. 1, No. 2 Avery Wissinger captured a 6-4, 6-3 win, and Biya Khan made it a sweep by winning 6-1, 6-2.

“Great team win,” Chambersburg coach Josh Barwin said. “Winning across the board is a great feeling. Sarah played well and showed her powerful forehand all match, and her backhand slice impressed me, too. Avery hit a lot of winners and Biya covered the court really well.”

At No. 1 doubles, Stormy Jackson and Ridglee Flohr pulled out a 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) victory, while No. 2 Aspen Kimberly and Sydni Byers won 6-0, 6-3.

Barwin said, “Stormy and Ridglee are really starting to come together and are playing well. Aspen and Sydni dominated at the net and communicated well.”
