Shippensburg, Pa – Seniors Gracie Vaughn (12 kills, 4 aces, 1 block) and Sophia Johnson (11 kills, 2 blocks,1 aces) led the Waynesboro Maidens to a 3-0 season opening volleyball victory at Shippensburg Tuesday night, supported by a host of teammates against Shippensburg , the Maidens won 25-12, 25-10, 25-7. Leah Helman dished 18 assists and 2 kills while Slaydon Fisher chipped in 6 kills diversifying the offensive attack. Madi Boltz, 7 digs and Ashley Donald 3 for the defensive contribution.
Head Coach Kim Saunders said “We’re thankful to finally have gotten match play started and we’re going to enjoy competing this season!”
The Maidens JV volleyball team was fast out of the gates for the first set against the Shippensburg Greyhounds winning 25-7. Jada Creager and Kiera Mouer played some solid defense for the Maidens. Kinsley Helman led the team on offense with four total kills for the evening, followed by Mouer and Hannah Bittinger with three each. The Maidens went on to win the second set 25-23.
The Maidens are scheduled to compete against the Lower Dauphin Falcons, this Friday, for their home opening match beginning with JV at 6:00PM.
