Trojan tennis team plays tough vs. CV

GIRLS TENNIS
Cumberland Valley 4, Chambersburg 1: On Friday afternoon, the Trojans dropped a road Mid Penn Commonwealth match to the Eagles.

At No. 2 singles, the Trojans’ Avery Wissinger won 7-6 in the first set and 6-4 in the second.

No. 3 Biya Khan lost 6-1, then won 6-3, but dropped the tiebreaker, 11-9.

Chambersburg coach Josh Barwin said, “Our players fought hard today. Avery came out on top after being down 2-5 in the first set. Her forehand was lethal today and she showed plenty of grit by never giving up. Biya lost on a third-set tiebreak. She has fought hard all season; she just needs to close out a match.

“After the match, the longtime CV coach complimented our team and said how much we’ve improved since last season. We are getting better, but we still have a lot to learn.”
