Blazers earn big MDCC victory

The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers pulled off a big win Tuesday by defeating Heritage Academy 3-2 in a Mason-Dixon Christian Conference girls volleyball game.

The Blazers (5-3, 4-3 MDCC) moved into third place in the league behind Calvary and Faith Christian. They had lost a 3-2 decision at Heritage earlier in the season.

On Tuesday, the Blazers won the first two games, 25-22 and 25-21. Heritage fought back for wins of 25-15 and 25-11, apparently holding momentum for the fifth and deciding game. The Blazers, however, captured the victory by going into overtime and earning a 16-14 decision.

Kills leaders for the Blazers were Morgan Householder with nine, Emilee Beam with eight, Regan Bard and Kendra Bard with four each, Niki Schussler and Sarah Vandersleen with three apiece, and Maddie Eberly with two.

In assists, Regan Bard had 24 and Eberly had six. Ryleigh Timmons led with 22 digs, followed by Beam with nine, Householder with seven and Schussler with six. Ace leaders were Timmons with five, Regan Bard with four and Kendra Bard with three.

The Blazers won the JV game, 2-1.
