Blazers use strong serves to subdue Frederick

FREDERICK, Md. – The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers put together a strong serving game and defeated Frederick Christian Academy 3-0 in a non-league girls volleyball match Monday.

The Blazers earned victories of 25-14, 25-10 and 25-13, with nearly one-third of their points coming on service aces.

The Blazers (3-3) served 20 aces during the three-game match, led by Kendra Bard with six and Ryleigh Timmons with five. Morgan Householder, Maddie Eberly and Niki Schussler each added a pair of aces, and Laurel Reitz, Alexandra Hott and Jenna Overcash served one each.

“It was a solid, all-around team effort tonight,” Blazers coach Carole Rosenberry said. “Kendra and Ryleigh led the service game with six and five aces respectively.”

Also for the Blazers, Regan Bard totaled 17 assists, Kendra Bard added six kills, Householder and Emilee Beam had five kills apiece and Reitz contributed four kills.
