Forbes Road 40 McConnellsburg 24

Waterfall, Pa. – When McConnellsburg and Forbes Road square off, you can usually throw out the records and prepare for a battle. Forbes Road (6-14, 2-11 ICC) used big second and fourth quarters to down McConnellsburg (5-12, 2-11 ICC) 40 to 24 in an Inter County Conference matchup. Hannah Skiles hit 5 treys and 19 points to lead the Cardinals. Quincy McMath added 11 points and 14 rebounds, Heidi Strait had 5 points and 10 rebounds, while Madison Hays pulled down 9 rebounds. Katelyn Truax led McConnellsburg with 10 points. Matty Ross added 6 points and 12 rebounds.

McConnellsburg Coach Dot Doyle commented, “You could say we had an off night… In the 1st half, we shot 13 three pointers and made 1. Then we missed 17 shots in the paint during the 2nd half.” Forbes Road Coach Jamie Gelvin commented, “I am proud of my kids for fighting hard all night. The Strait sisters (Heidi and Harlie) did wonderful jobs of handling the ball and controlling the game for us. Hannah Skiles also shot the ball very well tonight. We needed a win after the Southern Huntingdon game and I was glad the kids came to play. Great team win. McConnellsburg has some great players and I will truly miss the matchups with McConnellsburg seniors Katelyn Truax and Matty Ross. They are great girls and good ball players. I wish them nothing but success in the future.” JV – MHS 36 FR 16. (MHS – Bryonn Ross 16 points, FR – Heidi Strait and McKenna Rohrer 6 points). McConnellsburg travels to Tussey Mt. on Monday at 6:00. Forbes Road travels to Everett on Monday for a 6:00 start.

Southern Fulton 58 Fannett Metal 49

Warfordsburg, Pa. – Southern Fulton (11-7, 8-3 ICC) hosted conference rival Fannett Metal (10-10, 5-8 ICC) and came away with a 58 to 49 victory. Lindsey Hollenshead led Southern Fulton with 22 points, 14 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 blocks.  Hailey Mellott added 18 points in the win. Fannett Metal was led by Hailey Hill with 19 points and Brynn Hartman added 13 points. JV – SF 43 FM 19 (SF – Emma Wilson 19 points). Southern Fulton travels to Mt. Ridge on Friday. Fannett Metal will host Northern Bedford on Monday.
