G-A rdp for 1:27: Boys hoops fall in heartbreaker

Delone Catholic 58, Greencastle-Antrim 56: The Blue Devils fought back from a halftime deficit to take the lead late in the fourth quarter, but fell victim to a last-second shot by the Squires and lost a non-league game Monday night.

“It was a heartbreaker,” G-A coach Rick Lewis said. “We had another slow start — down 29-21 at the half — but we went into a full-court press and came all the way back to take the lead late in the fourth quarter.”

Unfortunately, Delone made a shot with 0:01 left to steal the win.

For Greencastle (2-15), Zach Cole led the scoring with 18 points, Thomas Lewis added 14 and Adam Murr contributed 9.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Delone Catholic 59, Greencastle-Antrim 36: The Blue Devils took on an outstanding non-league opponent Monday night, Delone Catholic, and were defeated by 23 points.

The Squirettes are unbeaten and are the defending PIAA Class 3A state champions. Delone pulled away in the fourth quarter thanks to five 3-pointers, including four by Abigail Vingsen.

Greencastle (10-7) got 8 points each from Mia Libby and Sayge Wilhide. Jenna Powell scored 6 points and grabbed 9 rebounds, Olivia Winslow had 7 boards and 4 points, and Lauren Pool tacked on 5 points and 4 rebounds.
