BOYS BASKETBALL
Central Dauphin 55, Chambersburg 52: The Trojans made a run at the Rams late, but a pair of costly turnovers made a big difference at the end and CD won in a battle of first-place Mid Penn Commonwealth teams Monday night.

Eli Shearer
“I’m disappointed we lost, but extremely proud of the effort they gave tonight,” Trojan coach Shawn Shreffler said. “They competed at a very high level against a deep, long and talented team.”
The Rams (13-4, 10-2 MPC) held a 51-42 lead before Ethan Shreffler dropped in a 3-pointer for Chambersburg (13-5, 9-3 MPC). Terell Williams then made 2 of 4 foul shots to pull the Trojans to within 51-47 with 2:10 remaining.
After a CD bucket, Shreffler drove for a basket, then missed a foul shot that would have completed a three-point play. But Chambersburg got the rebound and eventually, Shreffler hit a 3-pointer to make it 53-52 in CD’s favor with 0:59 left.
The Trojans forced a turnover when a loose ball went off a Central Dauphin player, but on the inbounds play, Chambersburg turned it right back over. With 0:21 left, CD’s Rance Russo hit both ends of a 1-and-1 to make it 55-52.
Shreffler drove to the rim, but his shot was a little short. He did get the rebound, but two passes later, Chambersburg threw the ball away with 0:04 left.
Shawn Shreffler said, “Our growth since the last time we played them (37-25 loss) is quite evident. Recovering and continuing our improvement is essential heading into tomorrow’s prep for CD East (Wednesday at CASHS).”
Ethan Shreffler led the Trojans with a season-high 22 points, Williams scored 9 and Eli Shearer added a career-high 9. Russo led the Rams with 18 points.
