G-A rdp for 1/17: Bubblers sweep Blue Devils in hoops

Boiling Springs 31, Greencastle-Antrim 29: Freshman Molly Starner scored on a driving left-handed layup as the buzzer sounded to lift the Bubblers over the Blue Devils in a Mid Penn Colonial game Friday night.

The Blue Devils led by two points with 35 seconds left, but Julia Fulton hit a 3-pointer from the corner to give the home team a 29-28 lead. G-A (9-5, 5-3 MPC) tied the game with 20 seconds remaining when Sayge Wilhide made 1 of 2 from the foul line.

Heading into the fourth quarter, Greencastle led 19-16, but the Bubblers (6-8, 4-4 MPC) scored the next nine points. Back-to-back threes by Wilhide and another trey by McKenna Rakaczewski gave their team a 29-27 advantage.

Wilhide scored 7 for G-A and Lauren Pool had 6 points and 9 rebounds. Greencastle has dropped three of its last four games.

BOYS BASKETBALL
Boiling Springs 85, Greencastle-Antrim 64: The Bubblers avenged a loss earlier in the season by defeating the Blue Devils by 21 points in a Mid Penn Colonial game Friday night.

Boiling Springs (6-8, 2-5 MPC) broke out to a 47-22 lead by halftime. Greencastle (2-12, 1-7 MPC) could not find a way to stop Trey Martin, who had 9 field goals and dropped in 17 of 20 foul shots for 37 points.

Zach Cole led the Blue Devils with 18 points and Adam Murr and Adam Root each totaled 10 points.
