The Rockets (2-7), coming off a huge win over Shippensburg last week, broke on top 18-11 after one quarter as Reilly Heinbaugh tallied 9 points and Mackenzie Stoner added 5. JB still led 31-26 at halftime.

Trojan coach Justin English said, “We didn’t play well in the first half, and we were sluggish and not executing on offense. So we challenged them at halftime and I was super proud of the way they responded.”

Chambersburg (3-6) went on a roll in the third period, outscoring the Rockets 21-9. Bre’ya Clopper had 6 points in the period and Madi Flythe had 5, as the Trojans took a 47-40 lead.

“We decided to spread the ball out with our guards and we got some dribble penetration,” English said. “We were passing and cutting and attacking the basket.”

For the first time this season, the Trojans put four players in double figures — Erin Pattillo and Flythe with 13 points each and Sidney Schmus and Clopper with 12 each.

English said, “Before the game we talked about overcoming some mental hurdles. The girls always give a big effort, but there are ups and downs during a game and sometimes we don’t come back when we get down.

“So I was really happy that we were able to close out this game and maybe get some confidence. We have been in every game we’re played this year except two, and I hope this can be a catalyst.”

For James Buchanan, Stoner totaled 18 points and Heinbaugh ended up with 12.
