CHAMBERSBURG – Historically, the Cedar Cliff girls basketball team is known for their relentless press and in-your-face defense.

Saturday night was no different.

The Lady Trojans went into halftime winning 24-20, but could only muster 4 points in the second half and were outscored by the Colts 22-4 in the final two frames.

The teams were knotted at 26-26 headed into the final frame, but the Colts were able to post 16 points in the fourth quarter en route to a non-league 42-28 victory.

“I’m super proud of how we played in the first half, and super disappointed in how we played in the second half. Kudos to (Cedar Cliff); they definitely adjusted and put the clamps on,” Chambersburg coach Justin English said.

The Lady Trojans (1-4) were paced in scoring by Erin Pattillo and Bre’ya Clopper, who each put up 8 points. The Colts (3-1) were led by Julia Hoffman with 12.

The Colts will return to Mid Penn Keystone action Tuesday night with a home game against Lower Dauphin. The Lady Trojans will get ready for Commonwealth opponent Carlisle on Wednesday night.

“We just have to get ready for Carlisle,” English said. “We are going to be sure that everyone knows their role in the press break. We are definitely going to have to handle pressure better because … it’s not going to be the last time we see it.”
