Greencastle-Antrim 36, Northern York 24: The Blue Devils raised their record to 3-0 (1-0 MPC) by holding the Polar Bears scoreless from about four minutes left in the first quarter until three minutes were left in the third.

“We had really solid team defense again,” G-A coach Mike Rhine said. “We led 29-4 at one point in the third quarter.”

The Blue Devil defense made 18 steals and blocked three shots, and Northern had only two field goals through three periods.

Greencastle got balanced scoring: Mia Libby and Sayge Wilhide each had 9 points, McKenna Rakaczewski had 8 (plus 5 assists and 6 steals) and Lauren Pool had 6 points and 6 boards.

Rhine said, “Mia played a great game in her first start, McKenna had a terrific all-around game, and Ashley (Noblit) came back healthy and gave us a boost.”

BOYS BASKETBALL
Northern York 64, Greencastle-Antrim 30: The Blue Devils managed to make only 9 field goals and dropped a Mid Penn Colonial game to the Polar Bears on the road Tuesday night.

“It was  very disappointing performance,” G-A coach Rick Lewis said. “We couldn’t make a shot.”

Zach Cole was the only player for Greencastle (0-3, 0-1 MPC) to hit double figures, with 10 points, and needed a 6-for-9 effort at the foul line to get there.

Nate McGill hit four 3-pointers on his way to 23 points for Northern.
