Field Hockey 9/17/19 Cardinals End Regular Season With a Win

Forbes Road 6 Huntingdon 1

Waterfall, Pa. – The Forbes Road Field Hockey Team (14-2) finished up their regular season with a big win at home over the Huntingdon Bearcats Thursday afternoon.

It was a cold, and very windy afternoon but the Cardinals were hot right from the start. Kaelonni Lashinsky scored her first of 2 goals just 58 seconds from the opening whistle on a crossed ball sent to her from Harlie Strait.  Emma Gelvin scored on right post on a penalty corner assisted by Strait just 2 minutes later.  Shortly thereafter, Gelvin flicked on goal and Lashinsky, hovering at left post, batted the ball into the cage on the blindside of Huntingdon’s keeper.  The Cardinals continued to hammer away at all angles of the cage for the remaining time in the first half. Quincy McMath netted her goal on a penalty corner pass from Strait with 4 minutes left and Shelby Harnish fired a bullet of a shot from just inside the circle to dramatically end the scoring for the Cardinals just before the end of the half. Forbes took control once again at the beginning of the second half. Strait picked up a loose ball off the keepers pads to score within the first 3 minutes. Bearcat, Kelci Corvin scored a goal with 6:32 left in the game.
