Calvary tops Blazers in semis

CRESAPTOWN, Md. – Top-seeded Calvary Christian took control early and handed the Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers a 3-0 loss Thursday in a Mason-Dixon Christian Conference girls volleyball playoff semifinal.

Calvary won games of 25-14, 25-15 and 25-16 to advance to Saturday’s MDCC championship against third-seeded New Life, a surprise 3-1 winner over second-seeded Heritage Academy.

The Blazers (11-9) will play Heritage in the consolation game Saturday at 1 p.m. at Greencastle-Antrim High School.

The Blazers received six assists, four digs and three blocks from Regan Bard, three kills from Morgan Householder, three blocks from Olivia Russell, five kills and seven digs from Kerri Potteiger, seven kills and nine digs from Emilee Beam, and seven digs from Ryleigh Timmons.
