Chambersburg rdp 10/16: Field hockey team edged in final game

FIELD HOCKEY
Mechanicsburg 2, Chambersburg 1: The Trojans broke an eight-game scoreless streak Wednesday evening, but were edged by the Wildcats in a non-league game to end their season.

Olivia Anderson scored both goals for Mechanicsburg, the second with nine minutes left to break a 1-1 deadlock.

Chambersburg’s goal was scored by Carly Benedict, her first of the season.

“This season has been a frustrating one, especially for the girls,” Chambersburg coach Dani Clutter said. “The end scores did not reflect on how well they played or how hard they worked.

“We had trouble finishing in our attacking circle and it will be a focus moving forward. Overall, I am impressed with the effort the girls have put into every game and every practice this season.”

The Trojans finished with a 2-16 record. Chambersburg increased its win total from the year before by two and scored three more goals (8) than a year ago, led by Jayden Seilhamer’s four scores.
