JB secondary to get tested Saturday

Teams: Springfield Spartans vs. James Buchanan Rockets
Where: James Buchanan’s Rocket Stadium
When: Saturday, 1 p.m. It is the Rockets’ Homecoming game.
Records: Springfield (2-1) beat Midd-West 20-19 last week … JB (2-1) rallied to beat Fairfield 22-20 last Friday.
Springfield notes: The Spartans are a Class 4A team from District 1, which is near Philadelphia … QB Gabe Franczyk and WR Cam Dennis are Springfield’s two big offensive play-makers … Franczyk is a dual-threat (508 yards, 10 TDs and 6 INTs passing; 266 yards, 2 TDs rushing); Dennis has caught 30 passes for 337 yards and 6 TDs … In last week’s win vs. Midd-West, Franczyk passed for 201 yards (1 TD) and rushed for 185 (2 TDs) and Dennis caught 12 passes for 155 yds. (1 TD).
Comments: “Everything runs through him (Franczyk),” JB coach David Miller said. “He’s definitely a dual threat. I think if we can bottle him up and keep him in the pocket we should be all right, but we have to – like I always say – have to have sound gap integrity. Dennis is a tall receiver who can run. They like to try and isolate him and throw him jump balls. I think our corners will have their hands full, but I think they are up for the task.”
James Buchanan notes:  Last week vs. Fairfield, the Rockets fell behind 13-0 before rallying for the win … JB got 3 rushing TDs, one each from QB Sebastian Wise, RB Hunter Smith and RB Logan Miller, who had a team-high 45 yards rushing … WR Caden Stoner caught a season-high 8 passes for 84 yards … Season leaders – PASSING – Wise (32-of-59 for 347, 3 TDs, 2 INTs); RUSHING – Miller (25-75 yds); RECEIVING – Stoner (12-112 yards); TACKLES – LB Caleb Wise (40), Miller (38).
Comments: “We need to be the team to set the tone early,” David Miller said. “We’ve been working on our pass protection because we have a pretty good quarterback as long as we give him time.”
